What is a Resumix Resume?
The Army Resumix Resume format has three main purposes :
1. Matches position requirements to the Apllicants skills.
2. Identifies knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) of the employee in the Resumix Resume.
3. Matches applicant skills against position skills.
The Resumix resume is a Federal Government Resume that follows a particular format. It is used by the military branches of the Federal government ( Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard) and the Department of Commerce. The resumix is very specific as to content, structure and layout. The Army Resumix Resume is the most restrictive of the the Resumix formats.
The Idea behind the Resumix Resume was to simplify the Federal Resume writing and application processes by combining different elements into one document. For example KSA's ( Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essays) which are usually seperate documents in the typical Federal Resume are built into the body of the Resumix resume.
This means that though this "simplifies" the process, one has to be extra careful that he not only do a credible job writing the Ksa's but that they are structured correctly for the resumix format.
Spell it Out for Uncle Sam
Writing a Resumix Resume is much trickier than writing a private sector resume. While you might have been able to allude to experiences or qualifications on a private sector resume,in a Resumix Resume or Federal resume, you've got to lay it all out!
From qualifications to focusing on the keywords used in the job announcement, everything needs to be included in a federal resume.
Ultimately, you should treat your federal resume (resumix) like a more detailed account of your private sector resume. The resumix resume is similar to the interview that you encounter in a private sector job, in that they want all the details laid out explicitly.
Using the terminology from the vacancy announcement will indicate to the reader that you are capable of performing the task at hand.
In summary, Federal Resume or Resumix writingmay seem complex, but just keep these things in mind, and you'll be fine.
Remember these points:
Details...Details...Details!
Spell it all out. Use the buzzwords listed in the job announcement in your resumix resume to show exactly what you are capable of
Too much is always better than not enough when it comes to information on a federal resume.

Format and Scanning
TheArmy Resumix Resumeis a very strict and concise format. Resumes can be posted online. With the Army Resumix format you also must include answers to all the KSA questions within the body of the Resumix Resume...they are not written separately.
Army resumix resumes are scanned and searched electronically for "keywords" linking them to the particular position being offered. So...without the correct keywords built into the resumix you will not be picked out of the crowd upon further review by the hiring authority. Your resume if selected is then reviewed by the hiring authority and you and your skill set are then compared to everyone else that was chosen.
So, for that reason alone it's essential your army resumix resume include all the keywords that :
1. Match up to the position requirements and
2. Sell you strongly.
There are resume-building tools available on the Internet to help with creating a resumix resume. One, at http://www.donhr.navy.mil, is designed for those applying for Navy jobs. But there are many reasons you may want to get your resumix resume or army resumix written by a professional.
As mentioned above it has to be "correct" because to begin with, it has to be scanned into a computer system and it is not viewed by a real person that might be apt to ask a question. With a machine it's either accepted or not. That simply means it better be written correctly all the i's dotted and t's crossed or else...
Army Resumix Resume Restrictions
The Army Resumix Resume format is the most controlled and structured of the various Resumix Resume formats. For example the Army Resumix Resume only allows you 12,000 characters to describe your work experience.
Also you are limited to one Army Resumix file for all the federal job applications you make with the Army, which is a significant can limit.
Once your resume is finished it can be posted online using the Army Resumix Resume Builder. In this format you also must include answers to all the KSA questions.
Federal Government Agency Requirements
Government Agencies / Branches that require the use of the Resumix Resume format :
- US Army
- US Navy
- US Air Force
- US Coast Guard
- US Department of Commerce
Each agency has there own version of the Resumix Resume. It is important to know which one to use in order for your resume to be accepted.

This web site is quite different from corporate america's resume format. I like your site; however, you have a typographical error of this page. Under number 5 - "US Department of Commerce", it states "Each agency has there own version of the Resumix". Instead of "there", it should be "their". Other than that, this web page is quite exciting.
Oops! I had an error as well. I am resubmitting my comment.

Wow Barbara, that was completely out of control. Get a hold of yourself. As far as this being a thrilling website, perhaps you should check out utube or online poker or maybe even porn, cause this is really only interesting if your trying to get a government job and then you ought to know what resumix is anyway.
This system obviously has some issues. I've never used the Resumix software and it will not let me register (ssan already has an account error) and when I try to retrieve my password I get a ssan not recognized error. You would think the two software modals would talk to each other!

I like your hub. Is the military the only place you need a "Resumix" resume to apply for? Can you explain what a "Resumix" resume is exactly?
